Forty LTC homes in Ontario have partnered with the Ontario Osteoporosis Strategy for Long-Term Care to do just that.

Osteoporosis clinicians, educators and researchers are working closely with LTC homes’ care teams to see what they say helps and works best for them and to make sure those residents get the best treatments available and care interventions to reduce hip fractures and other fractures from falls.

It’s called ViDOS (the vitamin D and osteoporosis study) and it’s using a mix of new thinking, new ways of sharing up-to-date knowledge along with new treatments and care approaches.

Using webinar technology, osteoporosis specialists deliver three interactive sessions to LTC health care teams and who meet regularly to improve resident care by reviewing performance reports, using point of care tools, and working together on action plans. More information will be available at the end of 2012.
